ANZAPLAN announces the collaboration with Canadian based company AVALON RARE METALS Inc. for processing test work targeting the beneficiation of lithium ore including the evaluation of valuable byproducts from AVALON RARE METALS’ Separation Rapids Lithium-Tantalum Project, a world class lithium minerals deposit.
The Separation Rapids property, which is located near Kenora, Ontario, hosts one of the largest “complex-type” rare metal pegmatite deposits in the world. Main lithium bearing ore mineral is petalite, which accounts for 20% to 30% of the minerals while columbite-tantalite is the typical tantalum bearing pay mineral occurring as accessory mineral. Petalite is a rare mineral used in certain specialty glass–ceramic applications.
Currently processing test work on sample material from the Big Whopper Pegmatite deposit is ongoing in ANZAPLAN’s technical centre in Hirschau, Germany. AVALON seeks to produce a high-purity petalite product for several European glass manufacturers.
